POLICE have released CCTV images of people they are hoping to trace in connection with burglaries at the Royal British Legion club in Southampton.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, the hall in Upper Deacon Road in Bitterne has been targeted and vandalised five times in just two weeks.

Members described the attacks as a "vendetta" against the legion and its membership.

Since the Daily Echo first reported the attacks, there have been no more incidents at the hall, with police stepping patrols in the area as a result of the reports.

Slot machines, pool and snooker tables and a window have been destroyed at the club – and £8,000 has been stolen from safes along with a 46in television.

Vandals even broke into an outdoor shed and opened nitrogen gas cylinders which could have destroyed the club had they exploded.

Police say there are no detailed descriptions of the people they wish to speak to, other than the black-and-white images they have released.

Anyone with any information in connection with the investigation is aske to contact PC Mike Barnett at Bitterne Police Station on 101 or via the Hampshire Constabulary website.

Information can also be left anymously via the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

to be honest if the patrols were in place after the first attack then maybe they would have been caught but unfortunately once again the horse has bolted so forget about closing the stable door

What's the point of even having cameras installed if the images are so poor? Those fake cameras would have been just as useful.
