AN elderly man who died after crashing his car into a wall in Hampshrie has been named.

Donald Ling, 88, crashed his green Vauxhall Astra near Southampton Road and the junction of Middleton Road, Ringwood, at 1.42pm yesterday.

Mr Ling, who is from Ringwood, was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where he died.

The road was closed as emergency crews, including the air ambulance, attended the scene, although it has now reopened.

The exact circumstances of the collision are still being investigated, although police believe Mr Ling may have been experiencing a medical episode.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Acting Sergeant Zonia Thompson at Totton police station on 101.
