THE AMNESTY Group at Burgate School and Sixth Form College, Fordingbridge has won a national award.

The group of students fought off tough competition to win the Youth Campaigner – Most Committed Group category at the 2014 Amnesty Youth Awards.

The winning group of young students will now head to Amnesty International’s central London headquarters for a prestigious awards day next month.

Julie Carter-Owen, the group leader and teacher at Burgate, said: “They started the group entirely through their own efforts and they continue to be determined to make the world a better place.”
