Drivers on the A35 were delayed after a group of New Forest Ponies gathered in the road near New Milton

Daily Echo: Delays after ponies take over busy road Delays after ponies take over busy road

MOTORISTS faced an unusual delay this morning after a busy road was blocked by ponies.

A group of six New Forest Ponies gathered on the A35 near New Milton at around 6.45am, causing traffic delays.

Hampshire Police attended and officers were able to guide them back into a field.

A police spokesman said: “Everything is in order now and the ponies are back in a field so the road is clear.”

Up in the mountains of Thetford training area the sheep would stand mid road and ignore all attempts to move them on - until someone shouted 'mint sauce' sheep to whippet in seconds. Suppose in the forest we could shout supermarket beef burgers.

New laws should be introduced to control their number and if the horses don't comply we should ban them. Who do they think they are delaying motorists? They don't even pay road tax shouldn't be on the road. I even saw one dedicate on the road right in front of me the other day, Disgusting! The roads were there before the horses anyway. Ban them, Ban! them I say.

oh hang on a moment.........

what a ridiculous comment above, how can horses be banned. Whilst we're at it lets ban sheep, cows, deer, unfortunately you can't have toilets for animals, a horse defecating in the road is normal i'd rather see that than the disgusting oik defecating in a wheelie bin as show in a story the other day
