POLICE support officers organised a fun sports event for Southampton’s youngsters.

Dozens of children attended the fun day at Merryoak Community Centre in Acacia Road arranged by PCSO Catherine Messenger, PCSO Matt Soal and PC Sarah Humphries.

The seven to 16-year-olds tried ice hockey, badminton, fuse ball, basket ball and dodge ball, met a 15ft python from Southampton Reptile Centre and got free pizza and cake supplied by Dominos and Greggs during the day on Friday.

The officers regularly hold events like it during school holidays.

  • The community centre is looking for people who can help set up and run a youth club so that youngsters have somewhere to go all year round.

For more information or to volunteer contact the centre on 023 8039 8368.
