RUMOUR MILL, July 8 - Koeman linked with Gabon international centre half

Daily Echo: Ronald Koeman Ronald Koeman

RONALD Koeman is being linked with a move for Gabon international centre half Bruno Ecuele Magna.

The 25-year-old has been a regular for Lorient in the French top flight since replacing current Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny, who left Lorient two summers ago.

Magna appeared in 35 of Lorient’s 38 La Ligue games in 2013/14 when they finished eighth in the table.

Koeman is in the market for a new centre half with wantaway Dejan Lovren setting his heart on following Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Liverpool.

The problem with 'wantaway' players is probably mainly their agents.
I guess agents only get paid when their players move (or am I wrong?)

Caulker is an Arry signing all day long and will follow the wages or lure of London - seems that sort of guy. They'll offer him silly money and I'd be amazed if he doesn't end up there along with several other Spurs rejects (probably Townsend, Dembele, Lennon and Adebayor), all on incredible wages. He'll probably try to get Defoe back from the US as well now.

Regardless of who we sign, I still feel Cork could have a role to play in central defence as our captain. He has all the attributes and it solves our queue of quality defensive midfielders with Spider (if still here), Victor and JWP (although less defensive clearly) all also worth places in the starting XI.

Personally I'd like to see us have a look at Dembele -if Spider goes. Not so long ago he was a Man Utd target and as complete midfielders go he's right up there.

Centre half is what the centre back was called back in the days of the W formation. His job was mostly to mark the centre forward, although he probably also needed to tackle the inside forwards when the wing halves had failed to disposes them.

Could you imagine the wages they would want??
At City and Man U , neither of them could have been on less than 100k a week, and as free agents, they'd be able to push for more.
Is that where we want to spend our cash? On over-the-hill players, on Champions League salaries? Leave that to Twitchy and the QPR jokers.
Caulker will also go back to London, on probably 70k a week...
I think we shoud be sensible.

Never heard of this fella or the Juventus player - I work with an Italian who is Juve mad - I'll ask him what he thinks next time I see him.

Suppose they have to be up to the mark or Rambo wouldn't be looking at them.

Just a thought - We half expected Rambo to go and bring a couple of his top Feyenoord players with him, we expected the unmentionable Argy to do the same to us - neither of these things have happened - Did they both sign some sort of exclusionary clause on their departures?
There are some great players at Feyenoord and it just seems strange to me we haven't (except through fan gossip) been linked with any of them. Anyone know anything about this?

perhaps we haven't signed any Dutch players because the ones we want are still in Brazil.
I don't get all this hysteria that the club are sat not doing anything. They do their business in private not through the tabloids. If I am proved wrong and they have been sate around with their thumbs up their backsides all summer then I will be big enough to come back on and take all the abuse the doom mongers throw at me. However, I believe we still have a good nucleus of players and if we can bring in 4 or 5 quality players then we will be in a stronger position than we were last year.
We do need a bit of reality because whilst I think NC did a great job in getting us where we are now, I equally think that KL is within her rights to decide how and when her money was spent. I do not believe she is going to sell the club, if she was then why not do that last year when are stock was on the rise with everyone saying what great players we had.

Not sure why, but I wouldn't be convinced if we bought anyone else from the Italian league (within reason anyway).

Though there have been players who have settled here from Italian football there are far more who haven't, Gaston and Osvaldo, Lamela, Borini. Jury still out on them, but not convinced.

I think the Dutch, German and French leagues are a better, safer market for us. And English obviously.

Going to be interesting to see JWP nail down a regular starting spot this season - could be sensational with a run in the team, especially with delivery from free kicks and corners, providing he works hard in training and doesn't get ahead of himself like some of our previous youth products.

We needed at least one CB who is better than what we have already got and TWO if Lovren leaves. I know very little about this Bruno Magna but obviously RonKo does, will trust his judgement if he rates him above the four or five Dutch CB's he could to try for.

Because Caulker is English with Premiership experience may now demand to much, but if not should still be considered. Otherwise there are a few other CB's that have done well in Brazil.

It is good that Tadic has signed and will make others more confident of joining.

Most money to spend on two of the best Strikers we can get.

Starting to get excited again !

Just looked this guy up.

Bruno Magna is Lorient's captain and rated at £4.5m, He is 25 and 6ft1.

Well worth a punt and could be another bargain. Add one of the Dutch CB's and Lovren can do what he will, but I expect RonKo will tell him the facts of life in no uncertain terms, I would love to be a fly on the wall when Ron meets Lovren and 'lays into him'. He will either plead forgiveness or be kicked out the door with out his feet touching the ground !

No one will mess with the Koeman Bros !!
