Hampshire's Sam Head knocked out of Lakeside World Darts Championships
Hampshire’s Sam Head bowed out of the Lakeside World Darts Championships in his debut appearance tonight.
It was a case of the oldest player in the tournament putting out the youngest in the preliminary round match.
Winner Mike Day is 58-years-old and from New Zealand, while British teenage champion Head, from Southsea, is just 20.
Head looked to have put a nervous start behind him and hit a 142 game shot in the second leg of the match. He hit a 109 check-out in the third set as he battled to stop the tie getting away from him but eventually lost out 3-0 in sets.
Basingstoke’s Paul Hogan steps on to the famous Frimley Green oche for the seventh time tomorrow afternoon to take on Karel Sedlacek from the Czech Republic.
If successful Hogan will face Scott Mitchell from Bransgore in the New Forest in a first round match on Tuesday.
